For my fortune cookie project im going to make paper beads using a video I found on youtube. My fortune said and that reminded made me think about taking the old and making it new.

My Fortune:
Hold on to the past but eventually, let the times go and keep the memories into the present.

For my final project I chose to make paper beads out of newspaper, a way of holding on to past memories yet moving on with life at the same time. We all have things that bug us about our past. We all have things we should let go of but just cant seem to part with. Well wouldn’t it be nice if we could let them turn into something beautiful like a necklace or a bracelet so we could keep that memory alive?
I had two problems with this project. The first one was that every time I went to make a bead the paper wouldn’t roll tight enough and it made me very frustrated. I solved this problem by being patient and learning how to roll the paper tighter. My other problem with this project is that I have yet to find string that will hold my beads. I think next time I’m going to use more than just the inside of a pen to make the beads. J
I am VERY happy with the way this project turned out. It represents something very close to my heart and something I have struggled with: the past. I have a lot of baggage I carry around every day that could easily be let go of. And this project really taught me a valuable lesson. You can hold on and let go at the same time. You can turn something tragic into something beautiful, and honestly I think that’s a lesson everyone could stand to learn
